Sport and physical activity has always played a dominant role within my life, from experimenting with various sports as a child to boxing as an amateur for my country, it has ultimately defined the job I do today.
I have been fortunate enough to convert my passion into a career, working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer in a gym chain popular throughout South Wales known as WareHouse Fitness, which plays home to the well known circuit/boxing class 'Funkypump'. I began working with the organisation when it was a small local business, renting spaces in Swansea nightclubs and have watched the business explode throughout South Wales and some.
With the development of the organisation, also came personal development. I began life as a gym assistant, before enhancing my skill set to become a fitness instructor, regularly taking classes, and then moving onto become a personal trainer.
I specialise in various methods of training as a PT (including suspension training, core stability and kettlebell training) however boxing is my strongest focal point. I have boxed for over 11 years, embarking in the sport at the age of 10. I soon found myself progressing in the sport and was fortunate enough to obtain my first Welsh Vest at 15, before going on to represent Wales in the British Championships.
Through personal development and experience I have acquired a wide set of training methods and skills which can be transferred throughout the health and fitness continuum. My experience of boxing has enabled me to pass on my knowledge to clients and boxers wishing to develop their skills. Whilst participation in fitness courses have helped me obtain the knowledge needed to assist others with a wide variety of goals (ranging from aspects such as weight loss, body fat loss, strength gain, cardiovascular enhancement) through the use of specific training methods and essential nutritional guidance.
Whilst developing as a boxer, I still focused on developing academically. Alongside obtaining my coaching and personal training qualifications, I graduated from the University of Wales in a BA Honours degree in Sport Management in 2014.
I like to think that the combination of personal experience in participating in sport at a high level, accompanied with academic and vocational enhancements has enabled me to provide a professional, specific and efficient service in my field of work.
